Iran Loses to Argentina at FIVB U-23 World Championship Opener

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran lost to Argentina 4-2 (16-14, 11-15, 15-11, 18-16, 13-15, 15-10) in the opening day of Pool B at the 2017 FIVB Men's U-23 World Championship on Friday.

German Johansen top scored the Argentinean team with 27 points while Rasoul Aghchehli with 22 points was the best scorer of Iran.

The competition is being held in Cairo, Egypt from August 18 to 25.

Iran will play China on Saturday.

All matches are played under a new scoring system currently being tested: a best-of-seven, 15-point set format.

The 2017 FIVB Volleyball Men's U-23 World Championship is the third edition of the international volleyball tournament and the world championship for men's national teams under the age of 23, organized by the sport's world governing body, FIVB.
