Development of Iran’s Advanced Missile System in Final Stages: Defense Minister

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami, who has recently won a vote of confidence from the parliament, said the development of the homegrown long-range air defense missile system dubbed “Bavar-373” is in its final stages.

Speaking to the Tasnim News Agency, Brigadier General Hatami pointed to the progress of the state-of-the-art missile system and said, the Bavar-373 is currently in its final stages and will become operational in due time.

He further emphasized that the project will be definitely completed in the near future.

Last month, Commander of Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base Brigadier General Farzad Esmaili announced that the domestically-made missile system will be added to the country’s integrated air defense network in the next Iranian year.

Iranian military experts and technicians have in recent years made great headways in manufacturing a broad range of indigenous equipment, making the armed forces self-sufficient in the arms sphere.

Tehran has always assured other nations that its military might poses no threat to regional countries, saying that the Islamic Republic’s defense doctrine is entirely based on deterrence.
