Cultural Heritage Chief Discusses Cooperation with Relevant US Institutes

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Vice President and Head of Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHTO) Mohammad Ali Najafi met and conferred with US cultural, scientific and tourism officials and personalities in New York and reached some agreements.

Najafi, who was among the delegation that accompanied President Hassan Rouhani in his visit of New York to attend the 68th UN General Assembly, in a meeting with a number of the American Institutes of Iranian Studies (AIIrS) spoke about the role of cultural exchanges and their significance in the history of different countries.

Najafi also attended a lunch ceremony at New York’s Metropolitan Museum where he elaborated on the Islamic Republic of Iran’s cultural approach and Iran’s cultural exchanges with different countries.

He said that cultural exchanges can act as a barrier against expansion of the perilous phenomenon of extremism in the world.

The ICHTO chief also had a meeting with more than 40 Iranians who are active in the field of tourism in America.

The Iranian vice president also visited New York’s Tisch Center for Hospitality, Tourism, and Sports Management, had a meeting with its director and exchanged ideas with a number of its professors.

In a meeting with a number of managers and members of Pittsburg Musical Institute of Pennsylvania, Najafi talked about the great significance of cultural exchanges and their role in enrichment of the nations’ histories.

He also announced Iran’s readiness for cultural exchanges and for holding joint art and culture exhibitions in the two countries.
