Iran Loses to Thailand at FIVB Women’s World Championship Asian Qualifiers

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran was defeated against Thailand in the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship Japan 2018 Asian Qualifiers on Wednesday.

The Iranian team lost to powerhouse Thailand 3-0 (25-14, 25-15, 25-13) at the Nakhon Pathom Sports Centre Gymnasium in Nakhon Pathom, Thailand.

World No.10 South Korea, Asian silver medalist Thailand, DPR Korea, Vietnam and Iran are attending the single round-robin competition, with only the two best-ranked teams making the cut for next year’s World Championship Finals in Japan.

Iran will face DPR Korea on Thursday.

A total of 24 teams will contest next year’s FIVB Women’s World Championship Finals in Japan from September 30 to October 21, 2018.

The teams which have already qualified for the top-flight championship included host Japan, defending world champion USA, Russia, Serbia, Turkey, Italy, Azerbaijan, Germany, the Netherlands, Bulgaria and Brazil.
