Iranian President Wraps Up Visit to New York

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, who was in the US to participate in the United Nations General Assembly, left New York for Tehran after attending the event and meeting with senior officials of UN member states.

President Rouhani, who had arrived in New York on Sunday evening at the head of a high-ranking delegation, left the city on Wednesday evening local time.

On the first day of his visit, the president had a cordial meeting with Iranian expatriates living in the United States.

During his trip, Rouhani held separate meetings with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and heads of a number of UN member states, including the presidents of France, Austria, and Bolivia, and the prime ministers of Britain and Sweden.

He also delivered a speech at the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Wednesday.

The general debate of the UNGA revolved around the theme of ‘Focusing on People: Striving for Peace and a Decent Life for All on a Sustainable Planet’.
