ACL Semifinals: Mehdi Taremi Misses Persepolis Matches against Al Hilal

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Persepolis striker Mehdi Taremi missed the matches against Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal in the AFC Champions League semifinals.

Taremi will have to serve a four-month ban after FIFA found he had breached his contract with Çaykur Rizespor.

If Persepolis qualifies for the final matches, Taremi will also miss them.

The Iranian national team's striker joined Çaykur Rizespor in June 2016 but returned to his former club Persepolis without the permission of the Turkish club.

Also, Persepolis has been banned from signing players for the next two transfer windows.

Çaykur Rizespor will reportedly receive 789,500 euros in compensation from Persepolis and Taremi for breach of transfer rules.

Persepolis will face Al Hilal on Tuesday in Abu Dhabi, the UAE.
