Iran Coach Hoping for A Good Start to FIFA U-17 World Cup

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran U-17 coach Abbas Chamanian is hopeful they start the World Cup with a good result against Guinea.

Iran has been drawn in Group C along with Guinea, European powerhouse Germany and Costa Rica.

The Persians have been scheduled to face Guinea in the tournament’s Group C in Goa, India on Saturday.

Iran became runner-up in the AFC U-16 Championship last year in the Indian city.

"First of all, it's awesome to return to the same city where we spent 22 days. We played six difficult and memorable matches at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium,” Chamanian said in the pre-match news conference.

“We’ve analyzed Guinea very well and we know that they are physically strong and they are very quick while attacking,” Chamanian said.

“Iran U-17 football team defeated France 4-0 and Mexico 3-0 in two friendly matches last week in Spain and we hope that we can show our good performance in the 2017 FIFA World Cup as well,” he added.

“We are together and try to reach our goal. Iran is a well-prepared team and wants to qualify for the next stage,” Chamanian concluded.
