Esteghlal Drops Points at Home Match against Foolad
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Esteghlal football team failed to beat Foolad in an Iran Professional League (IPL) home match on Friday.
The Tehran-based team, headed by newly-appointed Winfried Schaefer, played out a goalless draw against Foolad at the Azadi Stadium.
Elsewhere, IPL leader Pars Jonoubi shared the points with Tractor Sazi after being held 1-1 by the Tabriz-based team, Saipa drew 1-1 with Sepidrood Rasht, Padided and Zob Ahan match finished in a 2-2 tie, Sepahan beat Siahjamegan 2-0 and Sanat Naft defeated Naft Tehran 1-0.
Persepolis defeated Esteghlal Khuzestan 3-1 on Thursday and Paykan edged past Gosatresh Foolad 1-0.
Pars Jonoubi remains top of the table with 19 points and Persepolis is second with 17 points and one match in hands.
