Iranian, US FMs Had No Meeting in New York: Spokesman

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s foreign minister and his American counterpart had no separate bilateral meeting in New York other than ministerial meeting of Group 5+1 member states held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said.

Qassemi said in a statement released on Friday that Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and the US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson only participated at the Group 5+1 (the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany) multilateral talks on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly annual meeting in New York.

Rejecting Tillerson's claim about talks with the Iranian side, Qassemi said, “What Mr. Tillerson says is related to his remarks and stances expressed at the meeting of (Group) 5+1 foreign ministers on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meeting.”

Earlier, Tillerson had claimed that had conferred with Zarif on a new deal which would include Iran’s ballistic missile program.
