Persepolis Coach Ivankovic Blasts Referee Decisions

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran's Persepolis head coach Branko Ivankovic blasted the referee’s decision not to award them a penalty.

Persepolis was held to a 2-2 draw (6-2 on aggregate) by Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia and failed to reach the AFC Champions League final.

“In the first leg, the referee ruled out our correct goal for offside. In the second leg, the Omani referee had to award a penalty to us. Al Hilal player also fouled on our player before their second goal. Also, I believe that the referee should not award Al Hilal a penalty because our player brought down their player outside the area,” Ivankovic said.

“I am happy with my players’ performance. They met my expectations. We showed how wonderful we are and we are not afraid any team."

"Persepolis made a big job reaching semifinals and I think we can move forward next season,” the Croat added.
