Iranian NPC Hosts National Paralympic Day

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - The Iranian National Paralympic Committee hosted the 10th edition of the National Paralympic Day on Wednesday.

Approximately 35,000 people with varying impairments took part at the celebrations throughout the country.

High Governmental officials, sports figures and a number of elite athletes attending the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games participated in the celebration.

The event, which aims to raise awareness of Para sports through sporting exhibitions, live music and awards, took place in Tehran’s Milad-e Noor Sports & Cultural Complex.

Two-time Paralympic champion Zahra Nemati delivered the speech at the ceremony.

International Paralympic Committee (IPC) President Andrew Parsons, who is in South Korea to see how preparations are going ahead of next March’s PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games, sent a video message in support for the Iran’s National Paralympic Day.
