Iran Runner-up at IWBF Asia Oceania Championships
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran lost to Australia 80-54 at the 2017 IWBF (International Wheelchair Basketball Federation) Asia-Oceania Championships final on Saturday.
Iran had also lost to Australia 78-60 in the previous edition’s final match.
The west Asian team defeated Saudi Arabia 85-31, New Zealand 91-15, Thailand 89-62, China 86-45 and Japan 80-76 and suffered just one defeat to Australia 80-54 in the competition which was held in Beijing, China.
Omid Hadi Azhar from Iran was named as the competition’s MVP.
The Iranian women team also finished in fourth place while China won the title.
The Iranian team booked a place at the IWBF Wheelchair Basketball World Championships as the tournament’s best four teams.
The Championships will take place in Hamburg, Germany next year.
