No Problem in Keeping Order, Ensuring Security during Arbaeen: Iran’s Police Chief

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Police Commander Brigadier General Hossein Ashtari said there are no problems in handling the Arbaeen pilgrimage and ensuring security as thousands of Iranians are travelling to Iraq to perform religious rituals in commemoration of the third Shiite imam, Imam Hussein (AS).

Speaking to Tasnim at Chazzabeh border crossing southwest of Iran, Brigadier General Ashtari said there is no need to worry about anything in ensuring security and safety of the pilgrims and controlling the traffic on the roads near border crossings.

He also reminded Iranians intending to travel to Iraq for the religious event to prepare the required documents in full, recommending them not to rush for return.

Each year, a huge crowd of Shiite Muslims attend the religious commemoration of Arbaeen, marking the 40th day after the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS).

The Iraqi city of Karbala hosts the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS).

Last year, around 20 million pilgrims from all over the world gathered in Karbala on Arbaeen.
