Zarif Views Iranian Delegation's UN Visit as "Positive"

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said the recent visit to New York by senior Iranian officials to attend the UN General Assembly was a "positive and proper opportunity" to convey the country's message to the world.

Zarif on Wednesday evening briefed Iranian reporters on the last day of his stay in New York on the outcomes of President Hassan Rouhani’s visit to attend the 68th annual session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The visit was “positive and a proper opportunity to voice Iran’s message of peace outside the country, addressing to the world nations," Zarif said.

“The visit was also an opportunity to present Tehran’s strong determination to play a constructive role in the international arenas,” he added.

The visit was also an opportunity to largely remove the huge amount of negative propaganda which have been made by the western and Zionist camps against the Islamic Republic during the past couple of years, said the foreign minister.

President Rouhani encouraged the entire countries, international organizations, and civil foundations to organize new efforts aimed at leading the world towards peace and security in his UN General Assembly address.

He underlined that instead of the incompetent coalition for war in different parts of the world we need to concentrate on coalition for sustainable peace, throughout the world.

“Today the Islamic Republic of Iran is calling on you and on the entire international community to take a step forward; inviting the mankind against aggression and extremism…” said President Rouhani.
