Iran, Romania’s Officials Mull Visa-Free Travels

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Parliamentary officials from Iran and Romania explored avenues for closer banking interaction between the two countries and the removal of visa restrictions to stimulate trade ties.

In a meeting in Tehran on Saturday, special adviser to the Iranian Parliament speaker for international affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian and Head of Romania-Iran parliamentary friendship group Daniel Popsko discussed ways to broaden the relations between the two nations.

Urging efforts to facilitate banking cooperation between Tehran and Bucharest, Amir Abdollahian said visa-free travels would boost economic interaction.

For his part, the visiting Romanian lawmaker said good negotiations have been held in his country to allow Iranian business people and students in without a visa.

He also hailed close coordination between the chambers of commerce of the two countries.

In November 2016, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif paid a visit to Bucharest and signed two agreements on political consultations and the removal of diplomatic visa requirements between the two countries.
