Uzbekistan Keen to Invest in Iran’s PetChem Projects: Official

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Uzbekistan has expressed willingness to invest in Iran’s petrochemical projects, the managing director of Iran's National Petrochemical Company (NPC) said.

Tashkent is eager to make investment in Iran’s petrochemical projects, methanol-to-olefin projects in particular, Reza Norouzzadeh said recently following a meeting with Alisher Sultanov, deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, in Tehran, Shana reported.

Two Iranian and Uzbek representatives have been tasked with preparing the ground for the investment, he added.

Back in October, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Uzbek counterpart, Abdulaziz Kamilov, held talks on a range of issues, including ways to promote cooperation between the two countries in the oil and gas industry.

In the meeting held in Tehran, Zarif hailed bilateral relations between the Islamic Republic and Uzbekistan and stressed the need to boost the ties in all spheres.

The two sides discussed closer cooperation between Tehran and Tashkent in diverse areas, ranging from oil and gas, tourism, consular affairs, engineering, agriculture to automotive.
