Iran to Unveil Domestically-Made Nuclear Batteries in 2018: Salehi

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi said the country will unveil its domestically developed nuclear batteries next year.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Salehi said the country has managed to gain the technology to produce nuclear batteries.

He added that the project for making the atomic batteries is undergoing the test phase and they will be unveiled in April 2018.

“The project is going forward smoothly”, he said expressing the hope that the batteries could be soon employed in the county’s health and energy sectors.

Recently, Asghar Zare’an, special assistant to head of the AEOI, also confirmed this, saying the Islamic Republic had mastered the technology to produce nuclear batteries, becoming the fifth country after the United States, Russia, France and Britain to have this know-how.

On April 9 this year, President Hassan Rouhani unveiled two major nuclear achievements, a rock core centrifuge, and high-temperature condensate pump on the occasion of Iran’s National Nuclear Technology Day.

The former product is used to analyze samples gleaned from oil fields in order to estimate the general geological conditions governing the terrains.

The latter product is used at Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant in southern Iran. It has been manufactured by domestic experts for the first time at a fourth of the international price.
