Quds Move to Open Hell’s Gates to Trump: Palestinian Envoy

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Palestine’s ambassador to Syria warned the US president of the heavy price he will have to pay for recognizing the city of al-Quds (Jerusalem) as the capital of Israel, saying it will indeed open the doors of hell.

In an interview with the Tasnim News Agency in Damascus, Mahmoud Al-Khalidi said the US president would have refrained from declaring Quds the capital of Israel if he had been mindful of the “heavy costs” of his decision and the consequent damages to US interests.

“I believe that all doors of hell will open to Trump. The costs of his measure would not be low; on the contrary he will (have to) pay heavy prices,” the envoy said.

Stressing the need for practical measures by Muslim governments in reaction to Washington’s controversial decision, Khalidi said Quds is not an issue for Palestine alone, but an Arabic, Islamic and Christian issue.

Trump’s move revealed that the US is a major partner in the Israeli aggression against Palestine and Islamic and Christian sanctities.

Trump declared on December 6 that his administration would begin a years-long process of moving the American embassy in Tel Aviv to the city of Quds.

Palestinian leaders had previously warned the move would threaten a two-state solution.

Israel has occupied East Quds since the 1967 Middle East war. It annexed the area in 1980 and sees it as its exclusive domain. Under international law, the area is considered to be occupied territory.
