Islamic Jihad Raps Bahraini Team’s Israel Visit
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - A spokesman for the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement condemned a Bahraini delegation’s move to visit Israel, saying it violated Islamic and Arabic values.
The Bahraini delegation’s overt trip to the occupied territories of Palestine is tantamount to abandoning Islamic and Arabic values, Daoud Shihab said on Sunday.
The trip has taken place against a backdrop of the new Intifada (uprising) that has erupted in Palestine following the US decision to recognize the city of al-Quds (Jerusalem) as the capital of the Zionist regime, he added.
Amid ongoing controversy over the US decision to move its embassy to Quds, a Bahraini delegation has traveled to Israel to "send a message of peace", according to Israeli sources.
Comprising two dozen members of a group called This Is Bahrain, the delegation has been dispatched by the Persian Gulf island country’s king.
Last week, US President Donald Trump announced US recognition of Quds as Israel’s capital as well as plans to relocate the US embassy in Israel.
The controversial decision has angered Muslims throughout the world.
