Iran Wins Bronze at World Youth U-16 Chess Olympiad

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran claimed the bronze medal of the World Youth U-16 Chess Olympiad 2017 on Monday.

Russia was assured of the title at the end of the competition with one round to spare, when the team defeated Armenia 3 - 1 to continue the relentless march.

India and Iran also had victories with identical results to keep their second and third positions respectively intact.

Iran showed no mercy to Belarus, beating them 4 – 0 defeat, in the 9th Round to win the bronze medal.

While Russia won the gold and 1250 euro, India took the silver and 1000 euro. Iran claimed the bronze with 800 euro.

The FIDE World Youth Chess Olympiad 2017 organized by Gujarat State Chess Association and took place in Ahmedabad, India from Dec. 10 to 19.
