Iranian Top General Warns of Takfiris’ Continued Threats against Muslims

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri cautioned about plots hatched by Islam’s enemies and said if Takfirism (extremism) is not encountered seriously, the Muslim world will have to struggle with the problem for centuries.

In a speech in Tehran on Sunday, Major General Baqeri pointed to the recent collapse of the Daesh (ISIS or ISIL) Takfiri group in Iraq and Syria and said incidents that happened in the two countries over the past years could have spread to the entire Muslim world.

In response to the developments, “the righteous front expanded the resistance front” and managed to thwart the plot, the commander said.

However, he said, Takfirism has not just emerged out of nowhere but it has been supported by thoughts and ideologies, adding that the issue is not a trivial scheme.

Major General Baqeri went on to say that if the issue of Takfirism is not countered, it will entangle the Muslim world in conflicts for centuries.

In recent years, the Middle East has been plagued with Takfiri terrorist groups like Daesh, which are believed to have been created and supported by the West and some regional Arab countries.

The terrorist groups, which claim to be Islamic but whose actions are anything but, have been committing heinous crimes not only against non-Muslims but mostly against Muslims in the region.

Iraq and Syria have been among the countries gripped by terrorism.

Iran, a close ally of the two countries, has supported their legitimate governments in their campaign against foreign-backed militancy and terrorism.
