Palestine Witnessing Full-Scale War: Islamic Jihad Official

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A Palestinian Islamic Jihad leader slammed the Israeli prime minister’s Likud party for initiating a resolution to annex the West Bank and expand the Israeli settlements and said that a full-scale war has been waged on Palestine.

Khaled Al-Batsh said that Likud’s decision is an outcome of US decision to recognize Jerusalem (al-Quds) as capital of Israel, stressing that “Palestine is facing an all-out war.”

“Resistance is the most effective alternative to counter the Zionist regime's plots” and also the first option that should to be supported, he added.

Al-Batsh cautioned the world about Israel’s ambitions and said if the states and Islamic and Arabic governments accept the move to annex Jerusalem and West Bank to the Zionist regime of Israel, the regime will claim lands in other parts of the Islamic World.

“We should use all our capacities to confront the Zionist regime,” he said, stressing that the regime is seeking to expand its authority in the West Bank and deny the Palestinians’ rights.

Also, The Palestinian movement Hamas denounced the Israeli prime minister’s Likud party for initiating a resolution to annex the West Bank and increase the Israeli settlements, calling on the Fatah-led Palestinian National Authority to halt cooperation with Tel Aviv in protest.

In press comments issued on Sunday, Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem said Benjamin Netanyahu’s party’s plan to annex the West Bank reveals that US President Donald Trump’s decision to recognize the city of al-Quds (Jerusalem) as the capital of Israel has encouraged the Zionist regime of Israel to implement its racist polices.

On Sunday, the Likud party voted for a resolution that calls on its leaders to move to formally annex the West Bank.

The controversial move follows weeks of protests in the Palestinian territories against Trump’s decision to declare Jerusalem capital of Israel. The announcement has drawn global condemnation and prompted a series of protests in the Gaza Strip and elsewhere.

Fifteen people have died, and at least 2,900 others have been injured since Trump's announcement was made, according to the Palestine Red Crescent Society.

At least 500 people have been arrested, including Fatah leaders in al-Quds.
