Attacker Arrested after Stabbing Incident in Ireland

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - A man was arrested after he stabbed one person to death and injured two others in an attack in Ireland's northern town of Dundalk on Wednesday.

Local media quoted police as saying that the incident took place at about 9:00 a.m. local time on a street in the eastern part of Dundalk, a town with of a population of less than 40,000, which sits halfway between Dublin and Belfast, the capital city of Northern Ireland, Xinhua news agency reported.

The man who got killed in the incident is believed to be originally from Japan, said local media, adding that further details about the killed and the injured are not known at this moment.

The attacker, who is believed to be originally from the Middle East, was disarmed and arrested upon the arrival of the police at the scene, said the report.

Police are trying to establish if the attacker knew the victims or if they were attacked at random.
