Iran Ready to Supply Belarus Demand for Oil: VP

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri expressed the country’s readiness to satisfy Belarus’ demands for oil after arrangements for financial transactions.

In a meeting with Belarusian Minister of Industry Vitaly Vovk in Tehran on Tuesday, Jahangiri said Iran is ready to increase oil sales to Belarus and meet its demands for crude.

He also voiced Iran’s support for the Belarusian companies making investment in the oil industry, adding that Tehran and Minsk should reach agreements on a mechanism for financial transactions.

Jahangiri also called for closer cooperation between the two countries in the military industries, pharmaceutical industry and manufacturing agricultural machinery.

For his part, the visiting minister said Belarus is going to devise a road map to the expansion of trade ties with Iran by 2020.

Vovk also expressed his country’s willingness to broaden relations with Iran in various industrial and scientific fields.

Iran and Belarus have developed good relations in recent years, particularly in the economic and trade sectors and have signed a number of agreements to shore up bilateral cooperation.

In a meeting with speaker of Belarus’ Council in August 2017, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said the first step to broaden economic relations is to establish proper banking ties.
