Yemen Army Targets Saudi Mercenaries with Homegrown Missile

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Yemen’s army targeted the positions of Saudi-backed mercenaries in the Arab country’s Taiz province with a Zelzal 2 ballistic missile, inflicting major losses on them.

Yemeni troops launched the domestically-produced missile at the positions of the mercenaries in the areas of Moazea and Hamili of the country's southwestern Taiz province on Friday, killing and injuring a large group of them, Yemen’s official Saba news agency reported.

In a separate development, the Yemeni forces targeted the positions of Saudi troops in Saudi Arabia’s southwestern border region of Najran and Jizan, killing and injuring scores of them, a military source, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said on Friday.

The districts of Shyaba and Hamedha in Jizan and Nahuga in Najran were hit by the Yemeni forces.

The attacks were carried out in retaliation for Riyadh’s relentless airstrikes on Yemeni civilians.

Yemen’s defenseless people have been under massive attacks by the coalition for almost years but Riyadh has reached none of its objectives in Yemen so far.

Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been carrying out deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to fugitive former president Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi, an ally of Riyadh.

Over 14,000 Yemenis, including thousands of women and children, have lost their lives in the deadly military campaign.
