Syrian Diplomat: Chemical Weapon Disarmament in Syria Progressing Well

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - The process of chemical weapon disarmament in Syria is progressing well and should not be interrupted, said Syrian Ambassador to Moscow.

"Syria has provided all necessary information about the locations where chemical weapons are stored, and UN experts are working effectively in the country," said the ambassador.

Speaking to the Voice of Russia, Riad Haddad added that Syria is ready to participate in the “Geneva 2” conference, but will only negotiate with the Syrian National Coalition, which has shown its intention to preserve the integrity of the country.

A second group of chemical weapon experts consisting of 12 people of the OPCW arrived in Damascus on October 10th, and have started inspections. According to the terms laid by the Russian- American agreement, Syrian chemical weapons should be completely eliminated by the first half of the year 2014.

Syria has said that it will present a plan for the complete re-processing of chemical substances by the end of this year.
