Russia Police Eager to Work with Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The chief of the Moscow police voiced his department’s readiness to share experiences with the Iranian police and work in cooperation against extremism and narcotics trafficking.

During a visit to Tehran Police department on Monday, Major General Sergei Plakhikh hailed the history of cooperation between the police forces of the two countries.

Highlighting the Moscow police’s experience in diverse areas, the visiting commander called for the exchange of practical experiences with the Iranian police.

Plakhikh also expressed the Russian police’s readiness to work with Iran in countering narcotics trafficking, extremism and cybercrimes.

In November 2017, Iranian Prosecutor General Mohammad Jafar Montazeri and his Russian counterpart Yury Chaika discussed ways to boost judiciary cooperation between Tehran and Moscow.

In the meeting, held on the sidelines of the 15th Session of Prosecutors General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Member States in Russia, the two officials also discussed extradition of criminals and joint efforts in dealing with crimes connected with new technologies and signed a cooperation agreement.
