General Warns of US Hybrid War on Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A ranking Iranian commander and former Army Ground Force chief cautioned against a hybrid warfare the US has waged against Iran to make up for its inability to attack the Islamic Republic.

Addressing a cultural ceremony on Saturday, Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan said the US has adopted the strategy of hybrid warfare against Iran after being forced to pull its forces out of the West Asian region.

Being aware of its inability to take military action on Iran and of the Iranian Armed Forces’ combat readiness, the US decided to use a mixture of hostile tactics to harm Iran, including the economic pressures or cyberwar, the commander added.

Hybrid warfare refers to a combination of political and conventional warfare, cyberwar, and other soft war methods including fake news, diplomacy and foreign electoral intervention.

While the American officials maintain that military action against Iran remains on the table, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has on several occasions cautioned the adversaries that Iran’s response to any assault will not be confined to defense alone, but aggressors will face a crushing response.

In May 2015, Imam Khamenei made it clear that the Iranian nation will not let any possible act of aggression against the country go unanswered.

“The era of hit and run has ended” and the Iranian nation will chase aggressors, the Leader said at the time.
