Matchday Three: Iran’s Tractor Sazi, Persepolis to Face Emirati Rivals

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian football teams Tractor Sazi and Persepolis will face their Emirati opponents on Matchday Three of the AFC Champions League on Monday.

In Group A, Al Jazira has now won one and lost one ahead of the visit of Iranian side Tractor Sazi and it will look to return to winning ways to make a push for knockout stage qualification.

Tractor Sazi, meanwhile, will be desperate to put its first points on the board as a third successive defeat would almost certainly end its chances of making the next round.

In Group C, Persepolis will host Al Wasl in Tehran’s Azadi Stadim and the group pacesetter Al Sadd aims for its third successive win when the team travels to Uzbekistan to face Nasaf.

Al Sadd defeated 2017 semi-finalist Persepolis 3-1 last week, but Nasaf is also going into the game off a win, having posted a 1-0 victory over Al Wasl on Matchday Two.

Persepolis has a reputation for strong home form and it will look to maintain that when it welcomes Al Wasl to Tehran for third match of the campaign.

Al Wasl is currently propping up the standings and will need to avoid defeat if it is to have any realistic hope of advancing to the knockout phase.
