TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Javad Mahjoub from Iran claimed a gold medal at European Open on Sunday.

After Saeid Mollaei won a gold medal last week in Düsseldorf, this time Mahjoub showcased Iran as reborn judo country.

In Prague, the Iranian stunned Lukas Krpalek in the semi-final +100kg.

In the final match, Mahjoub defeated Belarusian Aliaksandr Vakhaviak, who won bronze at the Grand Slam Paris three weeks ago, and won the gold medal.

Mahjoub won thirteen World Cup medals since 2011, including a Grand Slam in 2013 and eight medals at Grand Prix level.
