Iran Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Wins Gold at Asian Para Games Qualifiers
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran women’s wheelchair basketball team claimed the title in the Central and East Asia qualifying tournament, which took place in Bangkok, Thailand from March 4 to 10.
The tournament brought six women’s teams namely, Thailand, Iran, Afghanistan, Cambodia, India and Laos together in a round robin format.
In the final match which was held on Saturday, Iran defeated Thailand 43-27 and won the title.
Iran started the campaign with a 45-30 win over Thailand.
Team Melli then defeated India (74-4), Laos (53-14), Cambodia (58-17) and Afghanistan (40-23).
At the end of the competition, top four teams Iran, Thailand, Afghanistan and Cambodia advanced to the 2018 Asian Para Games.
The 2018 Asian Para Games will be held in the Indonesian capital city of Jakarta from Oct. 6 to 13.
