Iran to Launch Subspecialty Nuclear Hospital in Four Years: AEOI Chief

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi said the country will in four years inaugurate a subspecialty nuclear hospital in the northern province of Alborz that would be unparalleled in Western Asia.

Speaking to the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), Salehi said the construction of the nuclear hospital would “start in earnest” in the current Iranian year (which began on March 21).

“Within the next four years, the subspecialty hospital, which would be unparalleled in the West Asia, will be inaugurated to treat refractory diseases,” he said.

The Iranian official further pointed to the National Nuclear Technology Day due to be observed on April 9 and said the country’s numerous nuclear achievements will be showcased on the day.

In October 2016, Salehi said the nuclear hospital project had been financed and the AEOI had finalized a cooperation agreement with an Austrian company in this regard.

According to the Iranian nuclear chief, only five countries in the world have such hospitals.

He added that due to its highly advanced equipment, the nuclear hospital would cost Iran some 300 million euros to build.
