Iran’s Shamkhani Due in Russia to Attend Int’l Security Conference

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani plans to pay a visit to Russia in coming days to attend an international conference on security issues, the head of the SNSC’s Communication and Information Center said.

Shamkhani will take part in the 9th International Meeting of High Representatives for Security Issues due to be held in Russia’s Sochi on April 25 and 26, Alireza Zarifian Yeganeh said on Sunday.

On the first day of the event, Shamkhani is slated to deliver a speech about security situation of the Middle East and politico-economic developments as well as Iran’s experiences and strategies in countering security and terrorist threats, he said.

The meeting on Day 1 will be held under the themes of “international crises from confrontation to dialogue” and “evolution of tactics and strategies of international terrorist organizations”, Zarifian Yeganeh said.

The second day will focus on “international information security, global responses to global challenges” and “production and spread of illicit drugs, threats to international peace and stability”, according to the SNSC official.

 Zarifian Yeganeh went on to say that during his trip, Shamkhani will also hold bilateral and multilateral talks with senior officials from other countries participating in the conference.
