Iran Sympathizes with Cuba over Plane Crash

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry expressed sympathy over a plane crash in Cuba that has killed more than 100 people.

In a message on Saturday, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi offered sympathy to the Cuban government and people and families of the victims of the crash.

More than 100 people died after a Boeing 737 airliner crashed near Cuba's main airport in Havana on Friday.

The plane, which was nearly 40 years old, was carrying 104 passengers and six crew members.

Cuban authorities have launched an investigation, and two days of national mourning have been declared.

All six crew members on board were Mexican and the majority of the passengers were Cuban, with five foreigners reported to be among them.
