Iran's Mojtaba Jabbari Announces Retirement from Football

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Esteghlal football club's attacking midfielder Mojtaba Jabbari announced his retirement from football on Wednesday after 16 years.

The 35-year-old footballer started his playing career with Abu Moslem in 2002 and after three years he joined Esteghlal.

He won Iran Professional League (IPL) three times with Esteghlal as well as two Hazfi Cups.

“I retired from football since I want to spend more time with my family,” Jabbari, who lives with his family in Doha, Qatar, told Varzesh3.com.

“It’s time to rest my body, especially my knees.  I liked to retire with Esteghlal’s jersey but it didn’t happen,” he added.
