US Plots against Iran to Fail Once Again: President Rouhani

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani highlighted the US government’s continued hostilities toward the Islamic Republic and underlined that Washington’s new plots against Tehran will once again fail.

Speaking at the end of a meeting of the heads of three branches of the government in Tehran on Saturday, Rouhani pointed to the US conspiracies against Iran over the past 40 years and said, “Today, the Washington government is more than ever hated by Islamic and regional countries.”

“We have no doubt that the US cannot continue the path and policy that it has taken regarding the Islamic world and its allies,” he said, adding that what can continue is the Islamic Republic’s path, which is based on Islam, interactions with friendly governments of the world, and treating people well.

The president further pointed to the US sanctions against Iran that are planned to be reimposed on November 4 and said, “As our nation stood against such conspiracies (before), they will stand up again and this time, the US will fail again in (pushing ahead with) its plots.”

On May 8, the US president pulled his country out of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), a nuclear agreement achieved in Vienna in 2015 after two years of negotiations among Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany).

After Donald Trump withdrew the US from the deal, his administration moved to re-implement the previous sanctions against Iran.

American authorities say the new sanctions would place “unprecedented economic pressure” on Iran and are seeking to impose sanctions against the countries that do not cut imports of Iranian oil to “zero” by November 4.
