Syria Army Liberates 21 Areas in Daraa, Quneitra

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Syrian army and its allies continued to make advances against Takfiri terrorist in Daraa and Quneitra, managing to liberate at least 21 areas in the Arab country’s provinces.

More than 21 villages, towns and farms were liberated in the countryside of Daraa and Quneitra on Friday as terrorist groups continue to lose ground in the two strategic provinces, a military source, speaking on condition of anonymity, told SANA news agency.

The source added that the liberated towns and villages include al-Nassria, Abu Katf, al-Mqibra, Ayn Frikha, Abu Ghara, al-Qsiba, Manqaret al-Alam, Mazraet al-Zakzaka, Ayn al-Maqam, al-Mza’ala, Rasm al-Bajras, al-Bajras, Rasm al-Qata, Ayn al-Tina, al-Swiqa, Manshit al-Swiqa, Ayn al-Zaitoun, Rasm al-Manbitah, al-Dwaia al-Kabira, al-Dwaia al-Saghira and al-Haja.

On July 6, the Syrian army established full control over the town of al-Naima on the eastern outskirts of Daraa city after rooting out the last hotbeds of terrorist groups there.

On July 12, the army raised the national flag over the southern city of Daraa as a major counter-terrorism operation neared an end with foreign-backed militants leaving the region in negotiated surrender deals.

Daraa city was the birthplace of the sedition that began in March 2011 before morphing into a foreign-backed militancy that continues to this day.

Since June 19, the Syrian army has been conducting the operation in Daraa, which borders Jordan and the Israeli-occupied side of Syria’s Golan Heights.
