Iran Won A Dramatic Match against Finland: Igor Kolakovic

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian national volleyball team's head coach Igor Kolakovic said the victory over Finland was a dramatic and nervous game because everybody expected them to win.

Iran overcame Finland 48 years after both teams met for the first and only time in any major competition.

The Asian giant defeated Finland 3-2 (25-19, 22-25, 23-25, 25-23, 15-12).

“It was a dramatic and nervous game because everybody expected us to win. It was difficult to get an easy victory against Finland,” Kolakovic said in the post –match news conference.

“They played very well in defense and reception. They also showed some really great attacking actions through the middle.

“I am happy because some of our young players proved that they can play at such a high level. I am sorry for losing a point but we were close to the defeat so it is the best possible end,” he added.
