Iran Advances to AFC U-16 Women's Championship 2019
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran defeated Tajikistan 8-0 at the AFC U-16 Women's Championship 2019 Round 1 Qualifiers on Friday.
Hasti Gholami, Roghayeh Jalal Nasab and Seyedeh Zahra Masoumi each scored twice while Negin Zandi and Zeinab Abbaspour added two more.
Iran advanced to the next round after three wins over Northern Mariana Islands and Singapore.
All 29 teams have tasted action and they will be vying for a top two spot in their respective groups to advance to the next round of the Qualifiers, where only four will eventually reach the Finals.
Iran will next play Thailand on Sunday.
The Qualifiers Round 1 is being played from September 15 to 23, 2018 while the Qualifiers Round 2 will be held from February 23 to March 3, 2019.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the Finals in 2019.
