Int’l Union of Muslim Publishers Opens Regional Office in Senegal

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Secretary General of International Union of Muslim Publishers (IUMP) Ali Zareie Najafdari said on Monday that the IUMP’s Africa regional office was opened in Senegal, following the establishment of its first EU regional office in Greece.

Najafdari who was speaking after returning from Senegal to participate at the opening ceremony of the IUPM regional office said that his visit to the African country was on an official invitation extended by the Head of the Senegalese Writers Union (SWU) Alyoun Badrabi.

“The joint meeting of the IUPM and the SWU, which was also the opening ceremony of the IUPM African region office in Senegal, was held in the presence of Senegal’s Prime Minister Aminata Toure and that country’s culture and higher education ministers,” he said.

He said that the ceremony was also attended by a group of African authors and poets from Senegal, Mali, Gabon, Morocco, Ghana, the Ivory Coast, Liberia, Mauritania, Gambia, Kenya, Benin, Cameron, Chad, Congo, and Guinea.

Najafdari, who had separate meetings with Senegalese president and prime minister during the trip, said that the IUPM’s achievements in the latest visit will be soon elaborate on at the IUPM Policymaking Council in the presence of the Supreme Leader’s Adviser in International Affairs Ali Akbar Velayati and Head of the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization Ali Akbar Salehi.

Other dignitaries at the IUPM Policymaking Council include the former secretary general of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri, Seyed Mohammad Hosseini, Mohammad Baqer Khorramshad, and Mohammad Ali Fat’hollahi.
