Parliament Speaker Expresses Sympathy with Russians on Plane Crash

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani in separate messages to Russian Duma and Parliament’s Upper House speakers extended his condolences to them on a passenger plane crash in the Russian city of Kazan which killed all 50 people on board.

Larijani has, in his messages addressed to Sergei Naryshkin and Valentina Matviyenko, expressed deep sorrow over the passenger plane crash in Kazan city and sympathized with them, the Russian government, and nation on behalf of the Iranian parliamentarians.

The Iranian foreign ministry, too, had on Monday extended condolences to the Russian government and nation over the deadly airplane crash.

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham offered the Islamic Republic’s condolences to the Russian government and nation over the deadly incident, and also expressed sympathy with the families of the victims.

The entire 50 people aboard, including 6 crew members and two infants, were killed when the passenger plane crashed in central Russia on Sunday night.

The Boeing 737 from Moscow exploded after a failed attempt to land at the Kazan international airport, according to the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Republic of Tatarstan.

Officials said that the plane had attempted to land several times prior to the crash.

Flight U363 took off from Moscow's Domodedovo airport at 6:25 pm local time, and crashed just over an hour later, emergency officials said. The plane was 23 years old.
