Iran, World Powers to Continue Talks for 4th Day

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The 4th day of intensive talks between nuclear negotiators from Iran and the six world powers will be held on Saturday in Geneva, Switzerland, as more talks are underway among delegations on Friday evening.

According to Tasnim dispatches, the talks between Iran and the Group 5+1 (also known as P5+1 or E3+3) will continue on Saturday since negotiations were intensive and complex on Friday.

On Friday evening, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton wrapped up their second round of talks.

The two high-ranking officials have held several sessions of meetings over the past two days, with the aim of reaching an agreement to help end the 10-year standoff over Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities.

Later, Zarif had a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in hotel Intercontinental during which they reportedly discussed Iran’s nuclear issue and the latest developments in Syria.

Lavrov arrived in Geneva hours ago and media reports say that other foreign ministers of the six world powers will likely join the talks later.

Tasnim reporter in Geneva also reported that two deputies of the Iranian foreign minister also held talks with the US chief negotiator Wendy Sherman.

This is the second time in a month that the Swiss city of Geneva is hosting representatives from Iran and the group of six major world powers. They had three days of intensive talks on November 7-9.

During the previous round of talks, the two sides managed to narrow their differences on Iran’s peaceful nuclear program, though there were hitches that stopped them from reaching an interim deal at the end of the talks.
