President Rouhani, First VP Felicitate Mauritania on National Day

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani and his first Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri, in separate messages on Thursday, congratulated the Mauritanian government and nation on the African country's national day.

In his message to Mauritania’s President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz, President Rouhani expressed the hope for the further expansion of comprehensive relations between the two Muslim countries in bilateral, regional and international fields and in line with the two nations’ interests.

Rouhani has also prayed to God for the good health and success of President Ould Abdel Aziz, and for the well being and prosperity of the Mauritanian nation.

Meanwhile, the Iranian first vice-president sent a message to Mauritanian Prime Minister Moulaye Ould Mohamed Laghdaf, and expressed the hope that good bilateral relations between the two sides would serve the interests of both nations.

Jahangiri stressed that such improved relations would secure the interests of the Islamic Ummah (community).

President Rouhani has in numerous occasions stressed Iran’s determination to maintain and improve cordial ties with the African nations as a high priority of Tehran’s foreign policy.
