Turkish Ministers Resign over Graft Probe

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Two Turkish ministers resigned over a high-level corruption crackdown during which the sons of three cabinet ministers and renowned businessmen were arrested, Turkish media reports said.

Economy Minister Zafer Caglayan and Interior Minister Muammer Guler announced their resignations early on Wednesday, according to the reports.

Caglayan's son Salih Kaan Caglayan and Guler's son Baris Guler were among the people arrested last week on graft investigations, which Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkey's prime minister, called a "dirty operation" to smear his administration and undermine the country's progress, Al Jazeera reported.

Caglayan announced his resignation in a written statement on Wednesday morning, calling the investigations a "dirty conspiracy" against Turkey and ruling Justice and Development Party.

Rejecting any wrongdoing during his time, he said that he was resigning in order to break what he calls "conspiracy".
