Lawmaker Calls on Lebanon to Provide Information about Saudi Terrorist

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A senior Iranian lawmaker on Sunday asked the Lebanese government to provide documents and data about the activities of Majed al-Majed, the Saudi terrorist who masterminded a deadly attack on Iran’s embassy in Beirut.

“We will definitely ask for the information, documents and evidence that defines Majed al-Majed’s activities, because he had masterminded terrorist operations, including the blast in front of the Iranian embassy in Beirut,” Seyed Hossein Naqavi Hosseini, the rapporteur of the Iranian parliament's national security and foreign policy commission, told Tasnim on Sunday.

He further asked the Lebanese government to provide Iran with whatever information it has about the Saudi terrorist.

On November 19, twin explosions near the Iranian embassy building in Beirut claimed the lives of more than 2 dozens of people and injured some 150 others. Iranian cultural attaché in Beirut was also among the dead.

Later, an al-Qaeda-linked group, Abdullah Azzam Brigades, claimed responsibility for the bombings. Last week, the Lebanese army arrested Majed al-Majed, the Saudi commander of Abdullah Azzam Brigades.

However, the Saudi terrorists died on Saturday, January 4, after the deterioration of his health. Majed was suffering from kidney failure and required daily dialysis.

As regards the death of Majed, Naqavi Hosseini said the Saudi terrorist seems to have not died of natural causes, because “he had very important information” that could have shed light on the motives behind a whole host of terrorist and suicide bombings.

“Majed al-Majed was physically eliminated, so that the information would not be ever disclosed,” he concluded.

Earlier in the day, five Iranian parliamentarians also asked the country’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif to take proper steps to find the cause of death of Majed.

Describing the Saudi terrorist’s death as “suspicious”, the Iranian legislators called on Zarif to follow up on the case seriously.
