Commander Reiterates IRGC Navy’s High Deterrent Power

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy commander once again affirmed that his forces have attained high deterrent capabilities in defense sectors, noting that such power owes more to strengthened missile capabilities.

Speaking in a gathering of the IRGC personnel on Monday, Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi stressed that the IRGC naval forces play a major role in creating deterrent power in the country.

He said the IRGC Navy’s high capability in the sphere of coast-to-sea missiles was "one of the major components of deterrent power in defense and security fields."

In relevant remarks in December 2013, Rear Admiral Fadavi had announced that the effective strategy of deterring threats has thwarted all enemy plots, adding that the presence of his forces in the country’s territorial waters have scared the adversaries.

He had also lauded the IRGC naval forces for their “mighty and courageous” presence in the country’s maritime territories and beyond, and noted that adoption of “deterrence strategy” has thwarted all plots hatched by the enemies.

The top commander said even the enemies have acknowledged the capabilities of the IRGC Navy, something that has forced them to give up any adventurism in the regional waterways.
