Iran's Rivals in World Cup to Play with Spain

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Two of the group rivals of Iran in the 2014 World Cup, namely Bosnia and Herzegovina and Nigeria, are set to play against world champions Spain in a warm-up tournament to be held in the United States in coming months.

Two of Iran’s rivals in the 2014 FIFA World Cup will attend in an eight-team warm-up tournament to be staged in the United States between 27 May and 10 June.

The “Road to Brazil” event, organized by Major League Soccer (MLS), will feature defending world champions Spain and African champions Nigeria in the US ahead of the World Cup.

Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, Côte d'Ivoire, Honduras, as well as two teams not going to Brazil - Bolivia and El Salvador - will also play in the upcoming tournament.

The World Cup kicks off on 12 June.

Iran is in Group F of the 2014 World Cup along with giant Argentina, Nigeria and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
