Report: Bomb Wounds 3 Police in Egyptian Capital

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Egypt's state news agency said a bomb has targeted a police checkpoint on a flyover in Cairo's twin city of Giza, wounding three police.

It quoted an Interior Ministry spokesman as saying the explosion Friday hit a truck belonging to the Central Security force that was stationed on the flyover.

Egypt has seen a spike in attacks since the military's July overthrow of President Mohammed Mursi, often targeting police.

Many have been claimed by a Sinai-based al-Qaeda-inspired militant group, AP reported.

Last week, a new group calling itself Ajnad Misr, Arabic for Egypt's Soldiers, claimed responsibility for several such bombings.
