Burundi Seeking Enhancement of Ties with Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Burundi’s New Ambassador to Iran Omar Ntezimbere said Sunday that he will do his best to expand his country’s ties with Iran.

Submitting a copy of his letter of credentials to Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, Ntezimbere also underlined Burundi president’s special attention to the development of all-out ties with Tehran.

He further hailed the new Iranian government’s approach and active diplomacy, and praised Tehran’s accomplishments in the international arena.

During the meeting, Iran’s foreign minister wished success for the new ambassador of Burundi, and hoped for further enhancement of relations between the two countries.

Zarif referred to the various grounds for development of bilateral relations and said African countries, including Burundi, with their huge natural resources, have great potentials for Iran’s private sector to implement development projects.

He also highlighted the role of Burundi in the international organizations and the African Union, and regarded the two countries’ cooperation and consulations in international organizations as constructive.
