TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A senior Iranian lawmaker said Tuesday that the ongoing meeting of the Islamic Inter-Parliamentary Union (IIPU) in Tehran has witnessed a warm welcome by the world states.

“The conference has witnessed warm welcome by 45 countries and 27 to 29 parliament speakers have attended it, the issue shows that Tehran is in the center of attention of the regional and world countries today," Chairman of Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi told Tasnim Tuesday.

Boroujerdi said that the 9th Islamic Inter-Parliamentary Union Conference in Tehran has witnessed broadest presence of parliament speakers and parliamentary delegations throughout its 15 year history, which is a record in its kind.

“The reason why the Islamic Republic of Iran has become the center of attention of the regional and the world countries today is that this country is now in talks with the Group 5+1 (also known as the P5+1 and the E3+3; the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany),” said the lawmaker.
